Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has summoned an emergency security meeting following claims that rival NURTW groups clashed at various parts of Ibadan on Thursday.
The meeting is the first between the governor and the security chiefs in the state since his assumption of office on Wednesday.
The governor confirmed that he had received report of clashes between rival groups of the NURTW in areas like Beere, Ring road and others.
He reminded the people of his earlier promise to put the security of the state at the front burner of his administration, adding that far reaching decisions would be taken at the meeting.
Newspeakonline understands that security chiefs in the state such as the Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu; the General Officer Commanding, 2 mechanised division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Okwudili Azinta; State Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr John Oyedokun and the Nigerian Immigration Service boss are presently at the Governor’s office for the meeting.
