The Ecumenical Water Network (EWN) in its continuous bid for justice and advocacy has moved it’s support to Ekiti State, equipping selected religious leaders as front runners in the campaign against water privatisation in the state.
Retrospecting on the related activities done by the previous government of the state, the secretary of the Christian Council of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter, Ven. Olu Ajayi, insisted on the need for water justice in the state, pointing out upgrades done by the previous government like dams and water pipes.
The formed community made a final resolve to continually engage the Ministry of Water Resources and other stakeholders, demanding for more transparency in the sector.
The training and building of a pressure group through a Community Parliament was led by Very Rev. Kolade Fadahunsi, Coordinator of Ecumenical Water Network Africa and assisted by the Programme Officer of the South West Christian Council of Nigeria, Very Rev Stephen Adeniran.
