Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu continued to sideline his deputy, Ahmed Ibeto on Wednesday after the Governor wrote to the State Assembly, directing the Speaker to act as governor when he leaves for Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj.
In a letter dated February 18, 2015 with number GHNS/13/72, signed and addressed by the Governor to the Speaker, Aliyu said: “I wish to inform Mr. Speaker that I intend to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform the lesser Hajj between 19th and 26th February, 2015.
“In my absence, the Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adamu Usman, will oversee my schedules as the Acting Governor.”
The development is believed to be as a result of Ibeto’s defection from the PDP to the APC, some weeks back.
Only last week, the governor was reported to have ordered his deputy out of the Council of State meeting on the grounds that h could use information gathered there against the PDPD
