NUC Executive Secretary, Abubakar hands over to deputy

Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission(NUC), Prof. Abdulrasheed Abubakar, has handed over to the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Commission, Chris Maiyaki.

The handing-over ceremony took place on Friday at the headquarters of the commission.

Abubakar had last week announced that he is stepping down as NUC Executive Secretary despite having three years until the expiration of his second tenure in office. He had said he was heading back to Bayero University, Kano (BUK) to continue his career as a lecturer.

Although no reason was given for his resignation, the former NUC boss is expected to resume at BUK next week.

In his acceptance speech, Maiyaki described Abubakar as a trailblazer in university education and wished him well in his future endeavours.
