Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday presented staff of office and certificate to Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, as the 21st Soun of Ogbomoso.
Speaking, Makinde described the new Soun as a visionary leader, an entrepreneur and motivational speaker, who has the capacity to take Ogbomoso land to the next level of development.
He charged the new monarch to use his wealth of experience, exposure and ingenuity to further enhance infrastructural development of the town.
Also, former vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, described Oba Olaoye as a friend, who always speak the truth even when it was not convenient to people around him.
Osinbajo congratulated the monarch and the people of Ogbomoso for having people Oba Olaoye as king.
Responding, Oba Olaoye called on all and sundry to support his vision of taking Ogbomoso to the promised land. He pledged to embark on notable developmental projects that will make life meaningful to all.
He said he had come to serve the people irrespective of religion or tribe.
Dignitaries at the event include the immediate past vice president of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, represented by former Military Administrator of Oyo State, General Oladayo Popoola (Rtd.); Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II; Olu of Warri, Oba Ogiame Atuwatse III; Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi; Timi of Ede, Oba Gbolahan Lawal; Ewi of Ado, Oba Rufus Adejugbe; Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, among others.
Members of the National Assembly from Oyo State, Oyo State Executive Council members, present and past Oyo State House of Assembly members, captains of industry were also in attendance.
