Dotun Babayemi has emerged the governorship candidate of the Wale Ojo-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State.
Results declared at the end of the factional primary, held at WOCDIF Event Centre, Osogbo, indicated that Babayemi polled 1,781 votes.
According to the Returning Officer, Adelani Ajanaku, though some other aspirants have stepped down from the contest, they still garnered some votes.
At the end of exercise, Sanya Omirin polled 16 votes; Akin Ogunbiyi (23 votes); Fatai Akinbade (28 votes); and Dele Adeleke (32 votes) respectively.
In his acceptance speech, Babayemi noted that it is not a victory for him but a victory for all the other aspirants who stepped down for his emergence.
The Sunday Bisi-led faction of the party had a parallel primary election at the Osogbo City Stadium.
