The three serving senators from Oyo State, Femi Lanlehin, Hosea Agboola and Ayo Adeseun, have been sacked by voters across Oyo State in the Saturday election.
The candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won in the three districts, though the result of Ibadan South West Local Government in Oyo South District was still being awaited as at press time. In the district, the APC candidate, Hon. Soji Akanbi, is already leading by a wide gap in the remaining local governments. He was only defeated in Ibadan North East Local Government by Accord candidate, Sen. Femi Lanlehin with about 4000 votes.
In Oyo Central Senatorial District, APC candidate, Hon. Monsurrat Sunmonu, scored 105,378 to defeat Chief Bisi Ilaka of Accord who polled 84,675 votes. Candidates of the PDP, Labour Party (LP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) followed respectively.
In Oyo North, Hon. Fatai Buhari of the APC also scored 104,056 to defeat his closest rival, Hon. Tajudeen Kareem, of LP who polled 75,469. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord candidates trailed them respectively.
For the House of Representatives, only Hon. Segun Odebunmi (PDP), Abiodun Awoleye (APC) and Saheed Fijabi (APC) were re-elected.
While Odebunmi is representing Surulere/Ogo-Oluwa, Awoleye is representing Ibadan North and Fijabi representing Ibadan South West/North West.
This came as the presidential candidate of the APC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), won in the Saturday election.
Buhari polled 528,620 votes to defeat President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 303,376 votes in the election.
While Buhari defeated the incumbent in 27 local governments, Jonathan defeated the former in six councils. The six councils are: Itesiwaju, Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, Oriire, Surulete and Ogo-Oluwa.
