The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) has passed a vote of confidence on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, led by Sen Iyorchia Ayu.
The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, and seconded by Ishola Balogun-Fulani from Kwara State.
The chairman, PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara, who presided over the sitting, asked whether any member of the NEC was against the motion, but the overwhelming majority agreed that a vote of confidence be passed on Ayu and the party leadership.
According to Elumelu, the vote of confidence was due to the NWC’s leadership in winning the Osun State governorship election and leading the party in the right direction.
Speaking, the party’s national chairman, Ayu, said: “I want to start this meeting by announcing that the Chairman of the BoT has decided to step down. He stepped down to enjoy his remaining months. He has served this party meritoriously rising to the position of BoT Secretary and Chairman.”
He urged the members to close ranks and work for the success of the party.
