In his quest to contest the Oluyole state constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly, popular on air personality(OAP) with Fresh 105.9FM, Alhaji Waheed Akintayo (a.k.a. Ilumoka Presenter) has picked the expression of interest and nomination forms of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Akintayo picked the forms at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja, on Friday.
Shortly after collecting the forms, Akintayo visited the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, in his office.
Speaking, Akintayo said the decision to obtain the forms follows his consultations with various stakeholders of the PDP, at both the state and local government level, to intimate them of his intention to vie for the Oluyole state constituency seat in the House of Assembly.
He said: “As a true democrat who believes that politics is all about the people and not for personal gains, I want to use my experience as an erudite broadcaster and tourism expert to bring smiles to the faces of the downtrodden in my constituency by sponsoring laws that will centre on the welfare of the people and equally facilitate many developmental projects to the grassroots if elected.
“I believe strongly that my 2023 legislative agenda and contributions on the floor of the House of Assembly will lead to improvements in the social welfare policies of the state, improve its security and ultimately contribute to the expansion of its economy that will bring food on the table of the majority of the people.
“I want to say a very big thank you to my people in Oluyole constituency for their tireless and unflinching support for the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, in the last three years. I promised not to disappoint them if giving the opportunity to represent them in the 2023 election.”
