Even though it is just a matter of hours, the much anticipated 2019 presidential election has come and gone. It has been won and lost.
In the build up to the election some contestants were dubbed “major candidates” and “top contenders”, especially with the frenzy of “third force”, “new breed”, “coalition” “#NotoAPCPDP” and other campaigns aimed at getting a president outside the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Candidates of the APC and PDP, President Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar were dubbed the major contenders while some others were dubbed top contenders.
These “top contenders” include Omoyele Sowore of Africa Action Coalition (AAC), Kingsley Moghalu of Young Progressives Party (YPP), Donald Duke of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Fela Durotoye of All New Nigeria (ANN). Oby Ezekwesili of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) was one of them but she withdrew from the race few weeks before the polls. Her party still featured on the ballot paper.
So, how did these “new breed” politicians and contestants perform in the just concluded election that had 74 contestants?
Below is the list of the top 10 performers:
