Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, some residents of Oyo State have warned political gladiators in the state, particularly a former governor, to desist from comments that could heat up the polity.
They lamented that the body language and utterances of the former governor against a particular governorship candidate is uncalled for and could lead to breakdown of law and order if not curtailed.
Some of the residents who pleaded anonymity, alleged that the former governor worked against the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the February 25 presidential election, adding that he has also started working against the re-election of Governor Seyi Makinde.
“Tinubu at a point in time assisted him during his challenges
“The ex-governor tackled Tinubu and never supported him. He allegedly collected money from Atiku and urged people to vote against Tinubu. It was unfair to have worked against the success of a Yoruba candidate,” one of the residents said.
They, however, said there must be consistency in the political affairs of Oyo State, particularly Ibadan land.
They residents noted that people in the state are now wise and intelligent enough to choose who will be their next governor without being brainwashed or forced.
