There are football clubs and there’s Manchester United.
There’s money and there’s Virgin Money.
Those words appeared on Virgin money’s website after the company, owned by billionaire businessman, Richard Branson, signed a deal to become the official UK financial services partner of Manchester United FC.
Expressing Virgin Money‘s admiration for the Old Trafford side, the company hailed Manchester United’s “unrivalled history, the iconic players, and the maverick spirit that runs through the club and its fans”.
The statement added:
So we’re proud to be the official UK financial services partner of Manchester United FC. But this isn’t just your everyday football partnership, born in the boardroom. United fans are used to better.
So this is about real products, tailored to fit the fans. And real rewards that money can’t buy. Whether fans want to carry the club on their credit card, or celebrate success with a win bonus on their savings balance, our aim is to be the perfect match for their money.
Virgin Money is a UK-based bank and financial services company owned by the Virgin Group, a company founded by Sir Richard Branson in 1995.
