The Nigerian Army has said that Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, now disguises as a woman in an attempt to escape.
In a statement signed by Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, the Director, Army Public Relations, and released to the press on Tuesday stated that the troop’s efforts of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in the ongoing clearance of the terrorists is yielding immense results.
The statement said: “Troops have successfully been clearing Boko Haram camps in Sambisa forest including Camp Zairo. They have also rescued civilians being held hostages by the terrorists, recovered arms, ammunition, Improvised Explosives Devices factories and making materials as well as other equipment. Consequently, the terrorists are in disarray and scampering for safety while others were surrendering.”
Usman further stated that due to disorganization of the terrorists by the army, credible information reaching the army indicate that Abubakar Shekau has abandoned his followers and his running for his dear life, disguising as a woman.
It stated: “He is desperately trying to escape the theatre disguised as a woman dressed in Hijab. We reliably gathered that to avoid detection Abubakar Shekau alternates between blue and black coloured hijabs. He was last seen in a black hijab.
