The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured Nigerians that the desired positive change in the country would begin to manifest in the new year, 2017.
In a New Year message signed by its Director of Publicity, Olawale Sadare, the party urged Nigerians to keep faith with the APC-led governments at all levels and pray more for the well-being of the country.
According to the APC, Nigeria’s socio-economic status would receive a great boost in 2017 in view of the painstaking efforts of the present Muhammadu Buhari administration coupled with the cooperation of an overwhelming majority of the citizenry who have defied all odds to remain patriotic and steadfast to the cause of the world’s most populous black nation.
The party said: “The greatest collective feat ever achieved by Nigerians was recorded in 2015 when they rescued their nation from the verge of Príncipe and imminent perdition in the hands of the PDP hawks. Meanwhile, the damage to our national life had almost been done before the nation was rescued and this was responsible for the untoward hardship of the past 19 months on the citizenry.
“It is in view of this that most of the strategic intervention measures of the Buhari administration seemed not to have yielded the desired results although most discerning minds see the government as performing to expectations. With the crushing of Boko Haram insurgency, stability of petroleum products supplies, self-sufficiency in rice production, reduction of official corruption menace and many more, things can only get better as Nigerians are set to witness a lot of improvement and turn-around in 2017.
“More importantly, the good people of Oyo State would not be left behind in the scheme of developmental strings in the coming years as Governor Abiola Ajimobi is not resting on his oars to better his own personal record of achievements. With the 2017 Appropriations Bill tagged; Budget of Self-Reliance, the governor has raised the hope of self-sufficiency, abundance and prosperity for the state and we are very optimistic about this.
“It is also important to note that the early part of the new new year would be devoted to the conduct of local government elections in the state and this has not happened in more than ten years. With this and the successful creation of 35 local council development areas (LCDAs), the Pacesetter State is set for even and rapid uplift right from this grassroots while the APC-led government would continue to do more for the citizenry including the good people of Oyo State.”
