President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of new service chiefs.
The request was contained in a letter addressed to Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and read during Tuesday’s plenary.
Tinubu said the confirmation request was in line with the Act establishing the armed forces.
The president had last month appointed Maj Gen Christopher Musa, as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Maj Gen Taoreed Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff
Tinubu also appointed Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff; Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar as the Chief of Air Staff; Maj Gen Emmanuel Undiandeye as Chief of Defence Intelligence and Kayode Egbetokun as Acting Inspector General of Police.
He urged the Senate to consider his request expeditiously.
Akpabio, after reading the letter, referred the request to the Committee of the Whole in absence of Standing Committee on Armed Forces.
The Service Chiefs will be screened on the floor of the Senate at a date to beat announced.
