Desperate job seekers have been advised to beware of fraudsters advertising recruitment for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Mr Abdullahi Gana, the NSCDC Commandant General, gave the advice in a statement signed by Emmanuel Okeh, the Corps’ Spokesperson, in Abuja.
Gana was reacting to the recent online advertisement on the sale of NSCDC application form in the country.
He advised the general public and applicants to discard, disregard and ignore such advertisement, to avoid being swindled by mischief makers and unscrupulous elements whose business is to misinform the public and rob them of their belongings.
His statement added:
“The Corps is neither recruiting nor replacing as is usually tagged by the scammers.
“Therefore, those who engage themselves in deceiving and misinforming the public for financial gain should desist from such act or face the wrath of the law if caught, for the law is no respecter of anyone.
“We wish to state emphatically that, the corps is not recruiting. The process of recruitment into the corps is not through online, rather, vacancies will be advertised in national dailies when the time comes.
“However, whosoever shows level of desperation and patronises online scammers and falls prey to their antics will face it alone, as the corps will not take responsibility for any illegal and illicit act’’
He said that the corps does not engage any person or group of persons as agent or consultant on recruitment matter, adding that applicants must be careful so as not to become victims of circumstance.
