Books, stationeries, computers, and several other items on sale at the University of Ibadan Bookshop were destroyed Sunday night during the heavy rain that lasted hours.
It was learnt that the roof of the building caved in due to the storm and left materials floating in the flood on Monday morning.
While inspecting the level of the damage alongide other principal officers of the school, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, described the cost of the losses as colossal.
TWwo months ago, the institution similarly lost property when a rainstorm blew off roofs of many buildings including student hostels, Trenchard hall, and Theatre Arts Department.
The havoc caused in August 2011 is yet to be forgotten. It would be recalled that in the infamous flood disaster that spread across Ibadan, UI lost properties worth millions of Naira across the campus.
