The University of Ibadan (UI), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), University of Benin (UNIBEN) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have fixed their minimum cut off marks for admissions to 200 cumulative scores.
It was gathered that before the 2023 policy meeting held by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), all institutions were advised to propose the cut-off marks for the conduct of their admissions.
Seven institutions indicated their minimum admissions benchmark scores to be 200 and above out of which four were federal universities.
Recall that vice chancellors of universities that attended the 2023 policy meeting unanimously agreed on 140 as the minimum benchmark for the admissions into the 2023/2024 academic session.
JAMB Registrar, Prof.Ishaq Oloyede, however, said universities are at liberty to decide individual cut-off marks, adding that no university will be allowed to admit any candidate who scored below the 140 benchmark.
For the Polytechnics and Colleges of Education, the minimum benchmark score of 100 was adopted for admissions.
