Oyo State Government has stated that the present administration in the state is passionate about the health of all citizens and commited to improving the facilities in the state.
The Secretary to the State Government(SSG), stated this while recieving the accreditation team from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCM) led by Prof. Peter Ebeigbe at Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, Ibadan.
Adeosun said the state has demonstrated its commitment through the upgrade of medical facilities in state-owned hospitals across the state.
The SSG said Governor Seyi Makinde-led adminitration is committed to put in all that is required to improve the health sector in the state, as it is one of the four cardinal programmes of the present administration.
She urged the team to be fair in the accreditation process of the Adeoyo Hospital, saying irrespective of the outcome of the exercise, the State Government will accept it.
According to Adeosun:”We will work on the outcome of your accreditation, such that whether it is in five years, two years or six months. When next you come back, you will observe the improvements based on the recommendations of the report.”
She noted that Ibadan was the Capital of Western Region and first in almost every sector in Nigeria, including the Adeoyo State Hospital being one of the pioneer maternity centers in Nigeria. The SSF said present government in the state is very interested in the health status of its citizens.
In his remarksl, the Chairman of the accreditation committee (NPMCN), Ebeigbe, admonished the State Government to support the outcome of the report from Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital.
