The Nigeria Volleyball Federation(NVBF) has assured that the talents discovered at the President Beach Volleyball Competition in Kaduna would be groomed into world leaders that will make Nigeria proud in the future.
The federation’s technical director, Martins Melandi gave the assurance while fielding questions from newsmen at the end of the competition over the weekend.
He expressed his satisfaction over the standard of play witnessed during the three-day competition, which attracted teams from all over Nigeria.
“Those discovered will be called and groomed for future engagements. I am impressed that great skills and techniques were witnessed, as well as discovery of several talents,” Melandi said.
He tasked the players to be active when they return to their various states, saying such active posture will keep them in good form.
Meanwhile, Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai has hailed the contribution of the NVBF President, Engineer Musa Nimrod to the growth of sports in Nigeria.
El-Rufai, who was speaking at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, during the closing ceremony of the President Beach Volleyball Competition, described Nimrod as second to none when it comes to sports development in Nigeria.
“One good thing about the NVBF President is that he is second to none in support of sporting activities in Nigeria. He has been supporting all sports, not just volleyball. He uses his resources to sponsor various sporting events across the country,” the governor said.
Represented by the Director of Sports, Kaduna State, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim, Governor el-Rufai commended the NVBF President for giving Kaduna the hosting right of the competition.
He said Kaduna has been yearning for such competitions, while assuring that the state government will always support Nimrod to host more of such competitions in Kaduna. He charged the winners to use the opportunity the competition afford them to represent Nigeria well at international competitions.
