The president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has appreciated Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, for his contribution to his victory in the February 25, presidential election.
Tinubu gave the commendation while inaugurating the Rumuokwuta/Rumuola flyover in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Wednesday.
The president-elect was in the state to honour Wike’s invitation. The governor had supported power shift to the South during the presidential campaign and tacitly supported the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Tinubu, although they belonged to different political parties.
Tinubu said he went through a “gruesome campaign, fought hard and won,” adding that he could not have achieved victory without structural support from people like Wike.
“Your Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike, you are very dependable.
“Nyesom, I say thank you for your contribution to my victory. I couldn’t have done it without some structural support,” the president-elect said.
The event was was well-attended by APC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts.
