Taiwo Adetunji, one of the daughters of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, has declared her intention to contest for a seat at the Oyo State House of Assembly seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adetunji, who is seeking to represent Ibadan South West 1 state constituency, announced her intention at the constituency’s secretariat in Ibadan.
She said: “My willingness to serve my people and the importance of getting what my people need made me come into politics. I am assuring my people in the constituency that I will ensure they get what they need. I have the capacity to deliver the dividends of democracy to my constituents.
“It is true that my father is the Olubadan of Ibadan land, but I am not contesting in order to use my father’s influence to get the party’s ticket and win, I want people to know that I have the capacity and I am not going to capitalise on my father’s influence. I want my people to support me for what and who I am.”
Adetunji holds a bachelors degree in Economics Education from the Lagos State University (LASU) and a Masters degree in Finance from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso.
