Ahead of the September 19 governorship election in Edo State, President Muhammadu Buhari has endorsed the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) , Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, following a meeting at the presidential villa, Abuja, on Friday.
The Chairman of the APC National Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Committee and Governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni disclosed this to State House correspondents after the meeting.
Speaking, Ize-Iyamu, denied hosting the state assembly members who purportedly impeached the speaker and deputy speaker on Thursday.
He added that the former APC National Chairman , Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, is not the face of his campaign, noting that it is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that is dragging the former governor of the state into the fray.
Ize-Iyamu blamed Governor Godwin Obaseki for the rising political tension in the state, saying that as someone who does not have immunity, he will not make trouble, adding “I don’t want to go to jail.”
On his part, Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, described Governor Godwin Obaseki, as a liability to the PDP.
“I can assure you that Governor Obaseki is a liability to the PDP. I can assure you that we are contesting against a governor who has failed most woefully,” he said.
