The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria(MACBAN) in Oyo State, on Monday said it supports the setting up of Oyo State Security Network, codenamed Operation Amotekun.
The former chairman of the association in the state, Alhaji Yakubu Bello made the disclosure at a public hearing organised by the Oyo State House of Assembly on Amotekun bill, held at House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
The Miyetti Allah leader denied the insinuation in some quarters that the bill was specifically targetted at the cattle breeders.
He said:” The bill was not targeted at anybody. Those that are peddling the rumours are the real trouble makers and enemy of progress.”
Bello added that Amotekun will provide the enabling environment and security for the cattle breeders to do their work without any fear of being attacked.
In attendance at the public hearing are yoruba interest groups led by Professor Banji Akintoye; members of various groups such as Farmers Association of Nigeria; Vigilante Association of Nigeria; Odua Peoples Congress(OPC); National Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW) amongst others.
