Russia has been banned from the forthcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The country’s appeal against its ban from the Olympic Games track and field athletic events for widespread doping has been rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
“CAS rejects the claims/appeal of the Russian Olympic Committee and 68 Russian athletes,” CAS said in a statement.
Earlier in the week, the World Anti-Doping Agency found evidence of widespread state-sponsored doing by Russian Athletes at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
The International Olympic Committee is still to rule whether there should be an outright ban on the Russian Olympics team at this year’s games in Rio De Janiero.
