President Muhammadu Buhari will address Nigerians at 7pm today (Monday).
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, made this known in a statement.
Though the statement did not give details of what the President would be speaking on, but it may not be unconnected with the coronavirus situation in the country.
Following the increasing cases of the pandemic, the president had ordered a shutdown of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun State on March 31 for an initial period of two weeks.
On Saturday, Buhari urged Nigerians to stay at home and to wash their hands to help save lives, but gave no indication of whether the official confinement period would be extended.
The statement issued on Monday read: “President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast to the nation Monday, April 13, 2020 at 7pm.
“Television, radio and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria respectively for the broadcast.”
