The Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN)Commission will hold a ‘Day of Tributes’ for its deceased Director General, Mr Dipo Famakinwa, on Monday, May 1, 2017.
The funeral service will hold at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja Lagos on May 5 while he will be buried at Ikoyi Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Famakinwa died April 21 after a brief illness
The tribute programme, which will hold at the Civic Centre, Agodi, Ibadan, is being organized in conjunction with the Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) and the Yoruba Academy.
In a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday, the commission recalled that Famakinwa directed the activities of the technical work group that put together the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Strategy Document, “and on the back of that, led and coordinated the processes that culminated in the setting up of the DAWN Commission.”
A certified auditor, Mr. Famakinwa was an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, the Lagos Business School, and Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
According to the statement, Famakinwa “had more than 24 years of extensive and high-profile professional experience serving various sectors within the Nigerian and multinational markets. He had led successful missions in the provision of management services to clients in financial services, aviation, retail, oil and gas, among others, and had also managed diverse talents and teams across functional areas.”
