Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Monday, received in audience the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Special Adviser on Political Matters to the President, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, in his office in Ado Ekiti.
Fayemi met with the minister and Ojudu behind closed doors.
Efforts by journalists to get the outcome of the meeting were unsuccessful as the trio declined to comment, even as they posed for photographs and exchanged pleasantries with journalists.
The Chief Press Secretary to Fayemi, Mr Yinka Oyebode, however described the meeting as a “family affair involving three brothers.”
“There is nothing unusual in the meeting. It is a courtesy visit to the governor and it provided the three leaders, who are critical stakeholders in the Nigeria project, an opportunity to reflect on sundry national issues,”he said.
But there are insinuations in some quarters that the meeting may not be unconnected with the crisis rocking the Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC).
Fayemi and Ojudu have been at loggerheads over the leadership and control of the party in the state.
The crisis rocking the state chapter of the APC have polarised the party into two main factions, and Aregbesola’s visit was believed to be a move to bring the two leaders together ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state in 2022.
