The Ogun State Police Command said it had begun an investigation into the abduction of a school teacher, Adegbenjo Adelowo, in the Alabata area of Odeda Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
It was learnt that Adelowo, a senior school teacher of Alabata Community High School, Alabata, Osiele, was kidnapped on his farm along the Alabata-Oke Efon-Kila road on Thursday afternoon.
It was further gathered that the kidnappers came out of the bush and attacked the victim before eventually whisking him away.
Odutola said efforts were ongoing to rescue the victim and arrest the abductors.
“The police are aware of the kidnapping of a secondary school teacher, Adegbenjo Adelowo, on his farm along Alabata-Oke Efon-Kila road, Osiele, Abeokuta. Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has ordered an immediate manhunt for the kidnappers and an order for the victim to be rescued safely.
“The police will not relent in its efforts to rid the state of crime and criminality,” Odutola said.
