Some residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Sunday, looted a warehouse reportedly belonging to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) over the current economic hardship across the country.
The warehouse is situated in the Phase 3 area,Gwagwa town, Abuja.
A resident of FCT, Jafaar Aminu, said the youths in their large numbers broke into the warehouse located around 7am, looting bags of maize and grain.
Aminu said the looting continued unhindered till aroubd 9am.
He said some residents as well as persons from neighbouring Jiwa and Karmo town trooped towards the site with the intention of partaking in the loot.
The warehouse was also looted during the COVID-19 lockdown.
After raiding the warehouse, the rampaging youths headed towards Idu Industrial Estate, where warehouses owned by individuals and government were located.
FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the incident, said “the situation is now under control.”
