The immediate past ALGON Chairman in Oyo State, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye (MDII) has commiserated with the family of the late Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, and the Ondo State Government over the passage of the former governor.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, Aleshinloye said the death of the former governor was painful and sad.
The ex-ALGON Chairman described the late Akeredolu as an illustrious son of Ondo State, whose phenomenal contributions to his state and country will never be forgotten.
Aleshinloye acknowledged Akeredolu’s selfless service and immeasurable contributions to nation building, especially his legacy in Ondo State where he served meritoriously as a governor.
“I had a very cordial and fruitful relationship with Arakunrin Akeredolu. In all my dealings with him,he was very humble and unassuming. I came across a passionate man who had a burning passion for the country.
“During his time, he was very committed to the development of the state. He was an activist who became a governor and a governor who always remained an activist. His legacy will stand as an example to all of us to persist in our pursuit of progress,” he said.
He further stated that the state would sorely miss Akeredolu, describing him as a selfless, fearless and consistent politician whose impact in security birthed the South West Security Network, codenamed Amotekun.
“As we mourn his passage, may Almighty God grant his family, friends, constituents and associates the fortitude to bear the loss,” he said, while praying that God should grant his soul eternal repose.
