The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has appealed to the general public to support it in achieving a successful and credible investigation into the air crash which occurred on Friday night at the Runway 22 of Ibadan Airport, involving a private jet owned by Flint Aero.
The bureau’s request was contained in a statement issued by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr James Odaudu, on Saturday.
According to the statement, public assistance is needed via video clips of the incident, relevant evidence and any information that would aid the successful investigation of the accident.
“As the investigating agency, NSIB needs and hereby solicits your assistance. We want the public to know that we would be amenable to receiving any video clip, relevant evidence, or information any members of the public may have of the accident; that can assist us with this investigation,” he said.
The bureau craved the public’s indulgence in respecting the privacy of those involved in the crash, stressing that assumptions should not be made on the cause of the accident till a formal report of the incident is released.
“The Bureau will appreciate that the general public and press respect the privacy of the people involved and NOT assume the cause of the serious incident until the formal report is released.
“The Bureau will release the preliminary report as soon as possible.
“There was no fatality, as all passengers and crew were safely evacuated,” Odaudu added.
The aircraft, with seven passengers and three crew members onboard was en-route Ibadan from Abuja.
The aircraft, on final approach to landing at Runway 22 at Ibadan Airport crash-land and skidded off the runaway into the bush.
