The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the last election, Atiku Abubakar, has said the judgement of the Supreme Court in the case he instituted against the declaration of President Bola Tinubu by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed that “all is not well with Nigeria.”
At a World Press Conference on Monday, Atiku said what Nigeria is dealing with is bigger than just a presidential election.
He said there are evidences that INEC violated the electoral act and process to declare Tinubu president, adding that the court also affirmed illegality.
He added that the comments of retired Supreme Court judge, Justice Musa Dattijo Muhammad, gave a pointer to the situation in the judiciary.
“The Supreme Court outcome, even though final, shows that all is not well and we are dealing with something bigger than presidential election.
“The bigger loss is not mine but for Nigeria. If the Supreme Court implies that crime is good and should be rewarded, then Nigeria has lost, and the country is doomed irrespective of who occupies the office,” he said,
Atiku said when INEC and the judiciary are enmeshed in controversy, democracy cannot thrive.
