Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has disclosed that he will extend the payment of wage award to the workers and pensioners in the state by another six months.
Makinde made the disclosure while commissioning the dualised 12km Challenge-Odo Ona Elewe- Elebu-Apata Road, on Friday.
Recall that the governor had on October 6, 2023 approved the payment of N25,000 and N15,000 wage award to workers and pensioners for six months respectively.
The initial six months was to terminate in March 2024 .
However, he said since his assumption of office, he has not failed to pay workers’ salaries and pension to retirees not later than 25th of every month, aside paying 13th month salary every year.
Makinde also debunked reports that state governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are not paying salaries and pensions to workers in their respective states.
The governor renamed the road Theophilus Akinyele Road, Ibadan.
The event was attended by Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, top government functionaries, traditional rulers, religious leaders and various stakeholders.
