A non-governmental organisation, Arise o Nigeria, in collaboration with the United Nation (UN) International Peace and Governance Council and Nigeria Army Institute of Science and Education, is organising a five-day international master’s class on leadership, sustainable peace building, inclusive governance, conflict management and alternate dispute resolution, ahead of the Pan African Leadership Symposium scheduled for August 19, 2022.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Director, Media and Communications, Arise O Nigeria, Fatimah Ibrahim, on Wednesday.
According to Ibrahim, the master’s class will address the trend of violent conflicts in Africa, especially in Nigeria, which has been experiencing increase in violent conflicts for many years.
“In recognition of the prevailing challenges, Arise o Nigeria will be partnering with the UN International Peace and Governance Council, Highstone International University,USA, and the Nigerian Army Institute of Science, Education and Technology, Ilorin, Kwara State, for a five-day executive master’s class training. Participants of this training will be inducted as fellow members of IPGC AFRICA for Peace, Research and Diplomacy.
“The objectives of the class is to acquire relevant capacities for mapping out graphically conflict situations, conflict designs dynamics, structures and ontologies for decision making in a community, develop basic negotiation skills for conflict resolution in a community.
“Also, to domesticate some negotiation designs for community peace building in Nigeria and Africa at large and to develop a negotiating programme for conflicting communities. Be acquainted with different types of alternate dispute resolution, ADR, mechanisms to various community conflicts,” Ibrahim said.
