Four days after getting the “Alao-Akala” boost, the Oyo State governorship bid of Adebayo Adelabu on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won more political leaders, this time around, from the Unity Forum.
Leaders of the forum, formed out of the APC on Sunday declared support for Adelabu at a meeting which took place at the Akobo, Ibadan home of former governor Lamidi Adesina’s personal assistant, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle.
Adelabu who was present at the meeting promised never to betray their confidence in him.
Newspeakonline had reported that some Unity Forum leaders, some of who dumped the APC for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) last year, met with national leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Friday.
The meeting, Newspeakonline gathered, was just one of the many aggressive moves the APC leadership, both at the national and state levels, were making to lure back into its fold, ex-members who left last year. They are also counter-moves to the alliance plans being pursued by opposition parties in the state led by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Seyi Makinde, ahead of the March 9 governorship election.
This medium had reported that after Friday’s meeting with Tinubu, some ADC members and Unity Forum members had signed back into the APC.
Below is the list of the Unity Forum members who recently declared their support for Adelabu:
Fatai Ibikunle
Bayo Adewusi
Goke Oyetunji
Alhaji Alade
Baba Mayo
Lekan Kazeem
Lasun Adebunmi
Isiaka Alimi
Adeyemi Kosigiri
They join former governor of the state and candidtate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, who made his own pledge to Adelabu and the APC on Thursday.
