The Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr. Sola Akande, has admonished enrollees of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) to inculcate the habit of visiting their hospitals.
Akande stated this while featuring on a radio programme in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, at the weekend.
“I want to remind and encourage our enrollees, holding our Basic Health Care Provision Fund Identity cards to visit their hospitals.
“The challenge with basic healthcare is more or less like a free head because it is being funded by government. We found out that, comparing our normal scheme and all the other routes through which you get insurance in Oyo State, utilisation of basic healthcare is the lowest because they did not pay for it.
“We have enrolled over 40,000 in Oyo State and we are starting another batch of enrollment from next month and by our own innovation, we are going to enroll 133,000 as against 90,000 that the FG is expecting us to enroll.
“We want to see by December, that we have enrolled 100,000 lives under BHCPF and our target is to be able to push utilisation under BHCPF to 25 or 30%,” he said.
