Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) has disclosed that it has enrolled over 60% of targeted enrollees into the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) scheme.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Sola Akande, disclosed this in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday.
He said the agency has reviewed upwards the number of enrollees for BHCPF, to accommodate more residents of the state.
Akande explained that, the BHCPF was initially aimed at capturing 37,500 indigenes, comprising of the aged, children under 5, physically challenged and pregnant women across the 33 local government areas, adding that about 22,018 lives have been enrolled into the scheme.
The OYSHIA boss said that the agency is currently enrolling more lives and the reviewed figure now stands at 65,000 lives.
Akande stressed that successful enrollees can access care without paying out-of-pocket through the ID card issued to them by the agency.
The BHCPF primary objective is to help achieve universal health coverage and enhance access to primary healthcare services for Oyo State residents, especially the poor and vulnerable, women, children under 5 and children in orphanages.
