The President, World Council of Churches, Africa, and Primate, Church of the Lord, Aladura, Most Rev. Rufus Okikiola Ositelu, has urged the President-in-Council of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to take a protest letter to President Bola Tinubu, demanding for a stop to the killing of Christians in northern Nigeria.
Primate Ositelu stated this in his Christmas message, which was made available to newsmen, on Monday.
He said the killing of Christians and destruction of churches in northern Nigeria has become a reoccurring problem every Christmas, adding that the wickedness should not be allowed to continue.
“It has become a reoccurring problem around every Christmas to kill Christians and destroy Churches in the northern part of Nigeria.
“According to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, more than 40 churches have been attacked since 2012, whereby many innocent lives were lost and churches destroyed.
“It is high time that the President-in-Council of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) takes a Protest Letter to the President of Nigeria with the demand for a STOP to this carnage. We cannot allow this wickedness to continue.
“May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace with light perpetual shining on their gentle souls, and may God grant is all the fortitude to bear the great loss.
“Condolences to the affected churches in the northern part of Nigeria, and may God protect us all from the hands of the wicked ones in Jesus mighty name, Amen,” he said.
