Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacheaus Adangor, has resigned.
His resignation was contained in a letter dated November 14, 2023, and addressed to state governor, Sim Fubara.
The commissioner noted that his resignation was based on personal principles and not connected to the current political crisis rocking the state.
“I hereby give Your Excellency Notice of my resignation as the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State with effect from the date of this letter
“For the avoidance of doubt, my resignation from the said office is based on personal principles
“I wish to thank Your Excellency for the opportunity and privilege granted me to serve in your administration as a member of the cabinet. My Family and I are indebted to Your Excellency in gratitude,” the letter read in part.
Adangor was one of the cabinet members of immediate past governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, re-appointed by Fubara.
The political crisis rocking the state assumed another dimension on Wednesday when the state government demolished the House of Assembly following the defection of 27 lawmakers from Peoples Democratic Party to All Progressives Congress (APC).
