The Senate has asked INEC to announce the result of the June 12 1993 Presidential Election. This comes after President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday declared June 12 as Nigeria’s Democracy Day instead of May 29.
The president also honoured the presumed winner of the election, late Chief M.K.O Abiola and his running mate, Babagana Kingibe with the GCFR and GCON awards.
On Thursday, the senate asked the Buhari administration to ensure that all the entitlements due to Abiola and Kingibe as President and Vice President be paid to them.
The Senate has also asked the present administration to recognize Babagana Kingibe as Vice President Elect and declare June 12 as a Public holiday.
