Preparation is at an advanced stage for pro-democracy groups under the aegis of Coalition for a Better Nigeria, in conjunction with Federal and Lagos State Governments, to host a world press conference to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
The world press conference, according to a statement by the National Coordinator of the group, Com Awa Bamiji, would be the fourth in the series and the12th national discourse.
The event will hold on Monday, June 12, 2023, by 12pm, at Afri Hotels, Suites and Restaurants Limited, Opposite War College, Central Area,Abuja.
The chairmen of occasion are Alhaji Tanko Yakassai (North), former chairman, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and Frank Ovie Kokori (South), former General-Secretary, National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
“Former President, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and former Governor of Edo State Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and immediate past Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory, Dr Rahamatu Tijjani Aliyu, are father and mother of the day. Also, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and Hon Tajudeen Abbas are Special Guest of Honour and Guest of Honour respectively.
“The Guest Speakers are Senator Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State; former Governor of Imo State, Owelle (Senator) Rochas Okorocha; Comrade Segun Mayegun, former President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS); Alhaji Asari Dukobo, Leader, Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Front (NDPVF); Alhaji Yerima Shettima, President, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum; Eze Goodluck Obi, an activist and royal father in Imo State; and Barrister Abukar Omobaba Onalor, Leader, Middle Belt Congress.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State are Chief Host and Host respectively,” Awa said.
According to the National Coordinator, maximum security is guaranteed throughout “this important event.”
