The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Valor City, Olushola Thomas, recently paid a courtesy visit to major traditional rulers in Orire Local Government Area of of Oyo State, to seek their cooperation and sensitise the communities on the vision of his organisation to build the first human capital development city in the community.
According to the CEO, the courtesy visit is to solicit the support and cooperation of the traditional rulers and their people on Valor City project in the area. He stated that Valor City is a project that would not only add value to the area but it is expected to upscale youth development as well as ensure communal development in Orire Local Government and its surrounding communities.
The Ogbomoso-born entrepreneur said: “Valor City is Africa’s first human development smart city that will sit on already acquired 2100 acres of land in Orire Local Government Area and when completed will have one of the best sports academy, skills and training center to develop different entrepreneurs, including artisans in modern skills, films and cinema village, state of the art medical hospital, golf course and will be a great tourist destination for many people across the world.”
“We are talking about a smart city that will place this community on the world map compared with what is obtainable in developed countries of the world. Valor City will help solve the challenges of unemployment of majority of the youths here. It will genuinely engage them in honest economic activities that will discourage them from engaging in internet frauds that is now prevalent among Nigerian youths. My conviction is that, there is no one created by God who is not talented one way or the other. It is the development of these various talents that is lacking and this is one of the gaps that Valor City will significantly address in this community. We will help discover our youths’ talents and help take it up with the facilities that will be available at Valor City.
“The government has done what it could within their resources and capability but obviously it is not enough.Universities are churning out graduates every year but unfortunately many graduates do not have the practical knowledge that modern jobs require. At Valor City, we will ensure that our students from the Sports Academy get signed up with the best clubs in Europe and other places in the world. This project is not solely about me but about the development of our community and I solicit your support on this vision and want you to be part of this enduring legacy,” he added.
Responding, Onikajola of Kajola, Oba Jimoh Abdulazeez, who spoke on behalf of other traditional rulers thanked Thomas and his team for the courtesy visit and for considering their communities as the host of such great initiative that would turn around the economy of the area for good.
Thomas stressed that the human capital development city would eradicate poverty and reduce crimes in Oyo State in particular and Nigeria in general.
He noted that construction works and development of infrastructural facility would begin in January 2022, adding that by the beginning of 2023 academic session, Valor City will take off.
“On behalf of other traditional chiefs present and on whose lands Valor City will be situated, I commend you, our son, Debo, for bringing development to our communities. We cannot thank you enough because we know this project will bring economic turnaround to our areas. I will want all our people, all traditional chiefs and religious leaders in Ayepe, Ayegun, Gambari, Idi Igba, Ajinapa, Tewure and other communities to give Valor City maximum cooperation to make this a reality,” Obama Abdulazeez said.
Amongst the traditional title rulers present at the event were Onitewure of Tewure, Onikedo of Kedo, Alayepe of Ayepe, Alararomi of Araromi, Aladafila of Adafila, Onioloya of Oloya as well as community leaders from Gambari, Ayegun, Ayepe, Idi Igba, and Ajinapa.
