Varsity SUG president appoints 30 aides

In what appears to be an unprecedented event in the history of student unionism in Nigeria, the Students’ Union President of Akwa Ibom State University, Comrade Abasifreke Benson, has released a list of 30 aides that will work with him.

In a statement he personally signed, Benson said upon proper investigation and scrutiny “viz-a-viz having been found of good conduct, cum credibility and zeal towards the above Union’s growth and development, I hereby offer this appointment to the following persons for effective and smooth run of this administration.”

The statement, sighted by Newspeakonline, showed that Benson appointed Chief of Staff, Chief Press Secretary, Chief Protocol Officer, Chief Security Officer, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants among others.

Benson, who is a student of Religious and Cultural Studies, was sworn-in as the 9th Student’ Union President of the University on Thursday, June 21, 2023.
