A first class graduate of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Telecommunications from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenya, Michael Kibet, has committed suicide over unemployment.
The 26-year-old Kibet allegedly took his own life at his brother’s compound in Chepsangor, in Nandi County, Kenya, after searching for employment opportunities in vain.
Kibet graduated from the university in 2021.
While confirming the incident, the Area Chief of Police, David Rugut, said the deceased hanged himself outside his brother’s house out of frustration and caused his family the loss of a bright student and dependable professional in the entire Chepsangor location.
Until his death, Kibet was living with his mother, a retired nurse and single mother, who has been educating her children alone after the death of her husband.
