It appears the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State won’t end anytime soon as two more commissioners resign from Governor Similanayi Fubara’s cabinet.
The latest commissioners to resign are Emeka Woke, Commissioner for Special Projects, and Austin Ben-Chioma, Commissioner for Environment.
In his resignation letter, Woke, who served as ex-Governor Nyesom Wike’s Chief of Staff for eight years, said: “My decision to resign at this time is necessitated by pressing family demands for my time and attention as well as the desire to afford other deserving Rivers People the opportunity to serve you and the State in that capacity.”
Ben-Chioma said his decision to resign was for “personal reasons.”
Woke and Ben-Chioma’s resignation bring the number of commissioners that have resigned in the last 24 hours to nine.
