Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri, has been re-elected for a second term in office.
Diri, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 175,196 votes to defeat his closest challenger and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timipre Sylva, who had 110,108 votes.
The state’s Returning Officer, Prof. Faruq Kuta, announced Diri as the winner, on Monday, 48 hours after the conclusion of the election.
Diri won six our of the eight local government areas in the state while Sylvia won the remaining two.
The results from Southern Ijaw Local Government was the last to be collated, with with APC accusing the returning officers of cancelling 50,000 votes from its total votes in the local government.
