The national planning committee for the burial of late legal luminary, Prof Ben Nwabueze, has released the amended programme of events for his final rites.
The amended programme of events was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the National Coordinator, Coalition of Pro – Democracy Groups for a Better Nigeria, Comrade Awa Bamiji.
“Sequel to a slight amendment in the burial arrangements of Prof Ben Nwabueze, SAN, the Chairman and Secretary of the National Planning Committee, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, GCON, and Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, CFR, respectively, have asked the secretariat to put out following as the final burial events for the attention of the burial sub-committee, members of the patriots and general public:
A. Tuesday, 20th February, 2024 – National Colloquium/Dialogue in Lagos by The Patriots
B. Thursday, 22nd February, 2024 – Valedictory Court session in Lagos by Lagos State Judiciary
C. Friday, 23rd February, 2024 – Day of Tributes in Lagos by family and The Patriots
D. Thursday, 29th February, 2024- Family/ Private Burial Ceremony in Atani, Anambra State
E. Friday, 1st March, 2024 – Tributes and Celebration of Life in Atani, Anambra State
Awa said the programmes are open to all eminent Nigerians, adding that maximum security is guaranteed.
Nwabueze died on October 29, 2023 at the age of 92. He was a lawyer and prominent member of the civil society and pro- democracy groups .
