A Federal Capital Territory High Court has given the Department of State Services (DSS) a seven days ultimatum to charge the suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, to court if there is criminal allegations against him.
Justice Hamza Muazu gave the order on Thursday while ruling on the fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by Emefiele to challenge his arrest and detention by the DSS.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had on June 9, suspended Emefiele and asked him to transfer his responsibilities to the deputy governor in charge of operations, Folashodun Shonubi.
On June 10, the DSS announced that Emefiele was in its custody for “some investigative reasons.”
The suspended CBN Governor had through his lawyer, Joseph Daudu, filed a suit against the DSS and the Attorney-general of the Federation(AGF), seeking to enforce his fundamental rights.
