The immediate past chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Chief Akin Oke, has said that the decision of President Bola Tinubu to appoint a former Commissioner of Finance in the state, Mr. Zaccheus Adedeji as Special Adviser on Revenue was a pointer to the fact that the present administration would take Nigeria out of the woods in no time.
Adedeji was among the eight Nigerians whose appointments as Special Advisers to the President were announced on Thursday. Until his latest appointment, Adedeji was the Executive Secretary of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC), having served in the administration of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi as Commissioner of Finance between 2011 and 2015.
In a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Thursday, Oke charged Tinubu to “remain focused and optimistic in his mission to rescue the country from the myriad of challenges which have been bedeviling it since the time of independence in 1960.”
“The new breeze which Nigeria now experiences is that of economic growth, peace and stability made possible by new president who has convinced the whole world that he was prepared for the job. We have no doubt in our mind that Tinubu Presidency is a prayer answered as it is imperative for all Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to support the administration in all ramifications.
“As it is clear that Nigeria needs a crack economy team to drive its affairs at the moment, we make bold to say that the choice of Zaccheus Adedeji and others would give our dear country the desired results as a lot of energy, expertise and passion would be brought into the governance of the world’s most populous black nation to enable it rank among the best.
“As we also like to acknowledge the supportive role being played by the likes of the former governor of Osun State and pioneer national chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, we make a strong appeal to Mr. President to consider more competent and suitable members of Oyo APC for federal appointments in the interest of justice, equity and fairness. Meanwhile, we use this medium to congratulate Mr. Zaccheus Adelabu Adedeji and wish him successful tenure of office,” Oke added.
